To Sign-Up for Auditions:
Complete the Cast Application before December 1st and submit your Parent/Guardian Consent Form to Mr. McCullough-Haddix AT auditions. On the application, you will need to select WHICH of the two Audition Dates you would like to attend, please check your calendar before applying. You may pick up a copy of the Parent Consent Form from Mr. McCullough-Haddix - but if you try to turn it in early he'll know you didn't read the part about bringing it with you to auditions.
(These will be different than last year)
- We meet/start at 5pm.
- Mr. Becker will review the songs with EVERYONE and get through vocal warm-ups.
- We will work through the group, alphabetically by last name, to see everyone’s memorized monologue (provided on the website), and sing through the vocal selections (provided on the website). - During your time, we will also do a quick, individual vocal range test with Mr. Becker.
- Once we have had a chance to hear everyone, you'll get a moment to go change into dance clothing and stretch, while the Directing Staff reviews notes from Part 1.
- We will then do a quick review of the dance you have already memorized, and break into small groups to present/demonstrate your dance ability. The video of this dance will be on the website.
Seymour Krelbourn (Male, 20’s to 30’s)
Our insecure, naïve florist’s clerk hero. Above all, he’s a sweet and well-meaning little man. He is not a silly, prat-falling nerd, and therefore should not be played as the hero of a Jerry Lewis film.
Range: Tenor (A2 – G4)
Audrey (Female, 20’s to 30’s)
The bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn like, secret love of Seymour’s life. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor.
Range: Mezzo-Soprano (G#3 – D5)
Mushnik (Male 0r Female, 40’s to 60’s)
Seymour and Audrey’s boss. A failure of an East Side florist. He is profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative. He seldom smiles but often sweats.
Range: Baritone (G2 – F4)
Orin Scrivello (Male, 30’s to 40’s)
An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Thinks like an insurance salesman and talks like a radio announcer.
Range: Baritone (G2 – G4)
Audrey II (Voice of the Plant) (Male or Female, 20’s to 50’s)
An off stage actor. The voice is that of a street-smart, funky, conniving villain. The sound is a cross between Otis Redding, Barry White, and Wolfman Jack.
Range: Baritone (G2 – G4)
Crystal, Ronnette, and Chiffon (Male or Female, 20’s to 30’s)
Three street urchins who function as participants in the action and as a Greek Chorus outside it. They are young, hip, smart, soulful, and the only people in the whole cast who really know what is going on. Together, they are a top notch 50s 60s group like the Chiffons, Ronnettes, Dixie Cups, Supremes, Blossoms, and Crystals. They are our story tellers and very much drive the action.
Range: Alto, Mezzo-Soprano, Soprano (Ab3 – F5)
We may consider a small ensemble of strong singers and actors to appear in two or three numbers in the show to boost the vocal and visual impact of the production.
